Plumber & Pump Operator  
 
 

Plumber is a person who installs and repairs, pipes fittings, fixtures, and other plumbing equipment used for water distribution, waste water disposal, and venting in residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings. Plumber may be officially trained or apprenticed under another plumber to receive informal training of Installation of common plumbing fixtures like toilets, sinks, bath tubs, showers, shower drains, food disposers, and hot water dispensers and plumbers are very experienced with these common plumbing tasks.

Pump Operator is a person responsible for operating the pumps on a pumper and typically for driving the pumper to an incident and controls pumping equipment for tasks like firefighting, wastewater processing, and agricultural applications. Pump Operator including operating, inspecting and monitoring the equipment necessary to maintain a safe and adequate water supply throughout the distribution system. Pump operators work on stationary and portable pumps in order to transport gas, oil or powders to and from various locations.


Some skills and Values of Plumber

1.Reading drawings, and specifications to determine layout of water supply, waste, and    venting systems.

2.Detecting faults in plumbing appliances and systems, and correctly diagnosing their    causes.

3.Installing, repairing and maintaining domestic, commercial, and industrial plumbing fixtures    and systems.

4.Locating and marking positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls    and floors.

5.Measuring, cutting, bending, and threading pipes using hand and power tools or machines.

6.Joining pipes and fittings together using soldering techniques, compression fittings,    threaded fittings, and push-on fittings.

7.Testing pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges.

Employment

Plumbers are employed in Construction and Manufacturing industries, Public Administration and Safety, Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services and Other Service. Plumbers start their own business as a plumbing contractor or establish a firm. Plumbers are involved in installing sewerage and effluent pumping equipment and disposal systems, installing below-ground drainage systems and associated ground support systems, installing gas appliances, flues and pressure regulating devices, fabricating and installing metal roofing, rainwater goods and flashings. Plumbers work as a Plumber, Air-conditioning and Mechanical Services Plumber, Drainer, Gasfitter and Roof Plumber.

 

Pump Operators are employed in construction Industries and Manufacturing Industries. Pump Operators are involved in basic maintenance of the pump, providing technical assistance to any other personnel involved in its operation, as well as clearing the pump of any obstructions and to operate various kinds of pumps and other related devices.
