Molecular Biology

Molecular Biology is the study of biology at a molecular level with the nature of biological phenomena at the molecular level through the study of DNA and RNA, proteins, and other macromolecules involved in genetic information and cell function. It also deals with the formation, structure and activity of macromolecules essential to life, such as nucleic acids, and especially with their role in cell replication and the transmission of genetic information

Molecular Biology covers a wide scope of problems related to molecular and cell biology including structural and functional genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, biomedicine, molecular enzymology, molecular virology and molecular immunology, theoretical bases of biotechnology, physics and physical chemistry of proteins and nucleic acids. Graduates who specialize in this field are known as a Molecular Biologists, Molecular biologist study the chemical realm inside cells in order to understand the genetic and molecular bases of cellular processes.

Specialty areas of Molecular Biology

1. Molecular Genetics

2. Chemical biology

3. Cell biology

4. Bacteriology

5. Pharmacology

Courses and Eligibility

1. Student must pass higher secondary education or 10+2 with science subjects to get     admission into bachelor’s degree program.

2. B.Sc. in Molecular Biology

3. M.Sc. in Molecular Biology

Employment

Graduates of Molecular biology are employed in research labs established by Government of India or in the R&D departments of various private drug companies, Institutes Drug Manufacture Company, Health care department, Agriculture and Related Industries etc. They are involved in developing therapeutic drugs within the medical development field, genetic expression, cell growth and development, DNA and RNA transcription and in many work related to macromolecules. Recording and analyzing various types of data are important parts of working as a molecular and cell biologist. Career in Molecular biology is good in India and also in abroad.
