Modeling is distinguished from public performance, such as an acting, dancing or mime artistry. Modeling is one of the most thrilling as well as lucrative profession, which attracts males and females equally. There are two categories of modeling, High fashion Modeling and Commercial Modeling. High fashion modeling is an art form of fashion it involves using people to show off a particular type of fashion, fashion items can be displayed using fashion modeling like garments, accessories, jewelry, and cosmetics. Commercial modeling is generally respected less than high fashion modeling. Commercial models do not require specific height, weight or age as other types of modeling do. They goal is to represent everyday people in advertisements for a wide variety of products and services.

Modeling is done by models; models have to express an emotion and feeling in their photographs. Girls aspiring to be fashion models should ideally be above 5' 7" or 5' 8" in height and the perfect 10 in vital statistics with good hair and skin, expressive eyes, even teeth with a complete lack of self-consciousness. Boys should be at least 5' 10" tall, with clear complexion, straight carriage, well-proportioned physique, teeth and good hair, Attitude, self-confidence, determination and stamina are very important. In Modeling minimum qualification is required.

Dance is a type of art in which people use their bodies to express themselves often rhythmic and to music using steps and gestures. Dance is performed in many cultures as a form of emotional expression, social interaction, and sometimes used to express ideas and to tell a story. The two main divisions of dance are Classical and Folk forms and there are several other forms of dances that fall into the category of semi-classical, folk, drama and martial arts contributing to the panorama of dance in India. Dance also develops the ability to concentrate intensely, listen introspectively, observe keenly, think critically, collaboratively develop a project, work independently, work under pressure and meet deadlines.


Types of Modeling

Glamour Modeling (This is a type of commercial print modeling; it involves models that pose in magazines. Glamour models show a lot of themselves; therefore to do this type of modeling your body needs to be in good physical shape.)

Fashion Modeling (Fashion models can be seen in certain magazines wearing designer clothing as some form of advertisement for the designer’s brand)

Editorial Modeling (Editorial Modeling is a type of fashion modeling, and it makes up a huge sector of the modeling industry. These models are featured in fashion magazines which showcase the latest style and trends)

Catalogue Modeling (Catalogue modeling is another type of fashion modeling; it involves posing for photos wearing or promoting the clients clothing or brand.)

Plus Size Modeling (This applies to models who engage in modeling garments that are designed and marketed to women of larger body sizes.)

Promotional Modeling (Promotional models involve promoting products and services at live events.)

Body Part Modeling (Body part modeling is where models use their hands, hair and legs to model products for clients.


Courses and Eligibility

1. Diploma in Dance is around two years.

2. B.A (Dance) is around three years.

3. P.G (Dance) is offered as a two year program in various universities.



Models are employed in product advertising, live fashion shows, music videos, in garment fairs and acting in television programs and films, modeling agencies and training schools. Models can set up a model co-coordinating agency.

Dancers are employed in Kala Kendra, Academies, TV channels, Dance troupes, studios, Film Industries, song and drama divisions, in schools as a dance teacher and many more. They can set up private classes and an institution.
