Mobile Apps are the application software that runs on smartphones and other mobile phones. Mobile applications usually help users by connecting them to Internet services and Mobile applications are designed to educate, entertain, or assist consumers in their daily lives. Mobile application written for mobile devices that performs a specific task, such as a game, calendar, music player.

Mobile app is software that runs on a handheld device such as phone, tablet, e-reader, iPod, etc. They are usually available through application distribution platforms, such as the Apple App Store, Google Play, Windows Phone Store and BlackBerry App World. Usually, they are downloaded from the platform to a target device, such as an iPhone, BlackBerry, Android phone or Windows Phone. Mobile applications are applications that run directly on mobile or tablet operating systems. Examples of such applications include the Facebook or Twitter application for tablets and they are generally available in an App store


Two Major types of mobile apps are:

1. The native app must be installed on the device; they either arrive pre-installed on the phone     which include address book, calendar, calculator, games, maps and Web browser

2. The Web app resides on server and is accessed via the Internet. Software is written as     Web pages in HTML and CSS, with the interactive parts in Java.

 

Some Stores of Mobile Apps are

1. Amazon App store (Google Android operating system)

2. Apple App Store

3. BlackBerry App World

4. Google Play ( Android devices)

5. Nokia Store (Windows Phone 7)

6. Microsoft Windows Phone Store (Windows Phone platform)

7. Microsoft Windows Store (Windows 8)

1. Communications ( Emails, Social Networks, Browsers)

2. Games( Puzzle, Action/Adventure, Sports)

3. Multimedia ( Graphics/Image Viewers, Video Players, Audio Players, Streaming Players)

4. Productivity( Calendars, Calculators, Diary, Notepad/Memo/Word Processors)

5. Travel (City Guides, Currency Converters, Translators, Weather)

6. Utilities (Profile Manager, Address Book, Task Manager, File Manager
