Medical lab technicians work with physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by performing tests on tissue, perform laboratory tests on specimens, blood and other body fluids test that assist doctors in verifying the causes of an illness, making medical decisions and determining treatment options. Lab technician play an important role in the prevention and diagnosis of diseases with the physicians. Lab Technician work under the supervision of a medical technologist.

Medical laboratory technician searches for basic clues to the absence, presence, extent and causes of diseases then tests are conducted. Medical Laboratory Technicians perform less complex tests and laboratory procedures than Medical Technologists. Medical lab technician help to help identify abnormalities in the samples such as malignancies, bacteria, parasites or genetic abnormalities.


Responsibility and Duties of Medical Lab Technician are

1. Preparing specimens for examination

2. Detection of abnormal cells

3. Sending test results to the physician or pathologist for diagnosis

4. Reporting to the supervising Medical Technologists

5. Operating microscopes and other medical laboratory equipment

Medical Lab Technician professionals are employed in government and private hospitals, diagnostic laboratories and physician offices, research facilities, clinics, public health organizations, as well as pharmaceutical. Graduates work is to prepare specimens, match blood compatibility for transfusions, analyze fluid chemical content, collect blood samples and examine system elements. They use laboratory equipment such as cell counters, microscopes and automated analyzers for the tests. Lab Technician has a good carrier in medical health centers.
