Leather and Rubber Technology

Leather Technology branch of engineering deals with producing, synthesizing, designing and refining leather so as to put it into the most efficient use. The technology of leather making is in its broadest sense, a series of operations which aim at isolating collagen by removing non-collagenous components of skin and then making it resistant to physical, chemical and biological factors. Leather wear constitutes a variety of products starting from belts, jackets, purses, luggage and bags, musical instruments, garment tags, gift items, etc.

Rubber Technology is a branch of engineering that constitutes processing of latex, natural rubber or synthetic rubber to convert it into useful products. Rubber is processed and then molded into the required shape. Treated or processed rubber is also used by various other end products like those used in various industries like car decoration etc. The curriculum for rubber technology usually instructs and educates students on the types of rubbers, their properties and descriptions of formulation of rubber compounds. Rubber is a commercially important polymer, used extensively in automobiles. In engineering, they play a significant role as they isolate vibrations, provide cushioning against mechanical shock (tires), provide electrical insulations and convey fluids, solids and provide flexible couplings.

Leather engineers are employed in IT industries, government organizations, leather firms, leather products industries, as lecturers in universities/institutes. Leather Engineers can work as technical designers, stylist designers and quality control checker. The India Leather Industry is the fourth largest exporter in the world. Leather Industry provides attractive growth opportunities for the professionals who are working in this sector. This sector is totally based on performance and experience.

Rubber Engineers are employed in IT industries, government organizations and also in private sectors. Increase in number of automobiles, increases use of rubber in industries. Rubber Engineers are employed mainly in Tier industries. Rubber technology is becoming a lucrative career option for students. .
