Instrumentation technology is the engineering in which students are responsible for construction and designing of the instruments. An instrument is a device that measures process of variables like temperature level, pressure, flow, currents, speed for gas, electrical, chemical and other systems. Instrumentation technology teaches students about control processes and measurement functions of instrumentation devices.


Instrumentation technology programs prepare students for maintaining and repairing control equipment used in a variety of industries. Many professionals in this field design and test electrical equipment for use in communications, medicine or navigation. The type of instruments needed for ensuring better quality and efficiency of the end product are decided by an instrumentation engineer.

Instrumentation technology includes instruction in instrumentation design and maintenance, calibration, design, production testing and scheduling, automated equipment functions, applications to specific industrial tasks and report preparation. Instrumentation technology degree programs provide theoretical and hands-on learning in setting up and maintaining automated control systems.

Employment

Instrumentation Technology Engineers are employed in IT industries, Private sectors and manufacturing environments. IT engineers find work as instrumentation, process control or electrical technicians. They are often employed in highly technical industries. Such as chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, food processing, manufacturing or energy production.


IT engineers are heading towards development of new & intelligent sensors, smart transducers, Bluetooth Technology. Job responsibilities commonly include installing, designing, repairing, troubleshooting and maintaining instrumentation devices and control systems. Technicians may also document repairs, write technical reports and help solve a variety of technical problems. With experience, they may eventually work up to management positions at technical and manufacturing companies.
