Infrastructure Engineering is a branch of engineering that coordinates all of these systems for a given engineering project, whether it is a single structure, an industrial complex or even a whole neighborhood. Infrastructure is basically needed for operation of a society or enterprise. Infrastructure engineering is divided into Hard and Soft Infrastructure. Hard refers to the large physical networks necessary for the functioning of a modern industrial nation. Soft refers to all the institutions which are required to maintain the economic, health, cultural and social standards of a country. Such as the financial system, the education system and the health care system.

Infrastructure engineering incudes

1. Networks of roads, highways and railways for transportation into and out of a community.

2. Water and sewage systems that ensure an adequate supply of clean water as well as the     disposal of waste.

3. Power and gas grids that can handle the needs of the entire community.

Infrastructure Engineers are employed in local, state and federal government organizations. They are also employed in architectural and engineering firms that specialize in land development, transportation, water resources, environment, structures, geotechnical, construction and other related fields. Engineers are employed by a wide range of companies in all Countries.
