Indian Education System

India is one of the best and popular countries in the world. India today is the second largest higher education network in the world and also having best educational system in the world. India had several great minds at work, which contributed in every aspect of life. The concept of zero, decimal and Pythagoras Theorem were all developed here.

In India, in olden days, students were taught orally, student will spend their few years staying with their master in his living place called ASHRAM or GURUKUL. Wards will be trained by MASTER or GURU regularly, under his supervision these disciples will be thoroughly informed, and learn skills and techniques. These oral lessons will be passed onto next generation by these disciples. Around 17th century, India had higher education centers like Nalanda, Takshila, Ujjain, and Vikramshila Universities offering courses in Arts, Architecture, Paintings, Logic, Literature, Buddhism, Hinduism, Arthashastra, mathematics, Astronomy, Medicine, Taxation, etc.

Present day education system in India is based on various stages of learning like Nursery, primary, High school and secondary education, undergraduate level and postgraduate level. Education system in India is set up by the Central and State Governments, while colleges are established by the State Governments or private bodies / trusts. The central and the state governments have joint responsibility for education, with freedom for the state governments to organize education within the national framework of education. Presently India has various schools, colleges, universities and other institutions which are providing quality of education to the students.

Typically our central and state government follows 10+2+3 pattern system of education, here primary, middle, high school covers up to 10th standard. The state boards and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will have control in running these schools. Recently there are trend of International schools coming up like mushrooms, which will follow their own western internationally accepted syllabus, own pattern of evaluation based on grading.

India has lot of universities and colleges across its major states and cities. Apart from undergraduate, postgraduate and, there are many training and diploma-level institutes and polytechnics that cater to the growing demand for skill-based and vocational education.

Governing bodies of Indian education system are

1. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

2. The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).

3. The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).

4. The State government boards, in which the majority of Indian children are enrolled.

5. The International School.

Classifications of Colleges
