Forensic Science is a science primarily concerned with the application of scientific principles for the investigation of crime and the purposes of the law, e.g. in a criminal investigation and trial. Forensic science is divided into criminalistics, forensic psychology and forensic pathology. Criminalistics is the science used to help understand the evidence in crimes, Forensic psychology is the study of the mind of a criminal, and Forensic pathology is the study of the cause of death. Forensic Science is a multidisciplinary subject, drawing principally from chemistry, biology, physics, geology, psychology, social science etc.

Forensic Science is essentially a crime laboratory based profession. The course qualifies students to apply their knowledge of science to the investigation of crime and it is a part in criminology, as it helps the criminologist to learn and utilize the evidences logically. Graduates who are specialized in this are known as Forensic Scientist, Forensic scientists will examine crime materials to provide scientific evidence to assist in the investigation and court proceedings, and thus work closely with the police.

1.Student must pass higher secondary education or 10+2 with science subjects to get    admission into bachelor’s degree program.

5. M.Sc. Forensic Science and Criminology

 

Employment

Graduates of Forensic Science are employed in government, private and public sector organizations such as, CBI, AIIMS, Police, railways, banks, forensic labs, Armed force department, Insurance companies. Graduates can also set up their own private detective agencies to perform operations. Graduates and post graduates can start their carrier as teachers in the area of legal studies, sociology and law.
