A person who makes, finishes, and repairs wooden objects and structures is known as Carpenter. Carpenters build many things like buildings and boats from wood and other materials and construct, erect, install, and repair structures and other fixtures. Carpenter performs many tasks including Measuring and marking cutting lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge, following established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean environment, verifying trueness of structure, Shaping or cutting materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saw, studying specifications in blueprints, sketches to prepare project layout and determine dimensions of materials required.


Carpenter also work with other materials such as plastic, fiberglass or drywall. Carpenters need to be able to solve basic mathematics problems quickly.

Courses and Eligibility

1. Student must pass SSLC.

2. ITI in Carpenter.

3. Some carpenters working for big companies may join a program called an apprenticeship.    This program combines on the job training and classroom work.Applicants for this program    usually must be at least 18 years old and pass an exam to see if they have the skills to    become a carpenter.The length of the program is also usually 3 to 4 years, but varies with     the apprentice's skill.



Carpenters are employed in most parts of the country, but there are more jobs in big cities where many things are always being built. Carpenters usually start their own firm and start their business by getting building construction contract. Construction jobs go where people and businesses move and where the local business is good. Therefore, the number of jobs in any year will be different from area to area. Fully trained carpenters and joiners will often move into related trades such as shop fitting, scaffolding, bench joinery, and maintenance. Graduates must be physically fit and have good manual dexterity, hand eye coordination and balance to work as a Carpenter. There are plenty of job openings for carpenters in upcoming years.
