Calibration is a test which known values of measured are applied to the transducer and corresponding output readings are recorded under specified conditions and is a comparison between measurements one of known magnitude with one device and another measurement made in as similar a way as possible with a second device. Calibration test is a procedure in which an instrument, tool, or device is tested to confirm that it conforms to the standard. Calibration is very important, as it ensures that objects are working properly. Calibration is all about comparison of measuring equipment against a standard instrument of higher accuracy to detect, correlate, adjust, rectify and document the accuracy of the instrument being compared.


Testing is a technical operation that consists of the determination of one or more characteristics of a given product, process or service according to a specified procedure. Testing is to check a device to confirm that it is accurate before being used in a sensitive task, and to check a device which appears to be faulty.

Characteristics of Calibration include

Calibration Tolerance: (Every calibration should be performed to a specified tolerance. The term tolerance and accuracy are often used incorrectly)


Accuracy: (The ratio of the error of the full scale output or the ratio of the error in the output, expressed in percent span or percent reading, respectively)


Tolerance: (Permissible deviation from a specified value, may be expressed in measurement units, percent of span, or percent of reading)

 

Courses and Eligibility

1. The student must pass higher secondary education or 10+2 with science subjects to get     admission into a bachelor’s degree program.

2. Diploma in Electronic and Communication/ Electrical.

3. BE in Electronic and Communication/ Electrical.

4. Post-diploma in test engineering, calibration.

 

Employment

Graduates in this field are employed in calibration labs and industries engaged in electro-technical, mechanical, radiological, thermal and optical and fluid-flow measurements. Graduates work with various MNCs, PSUs, R&D centers and SMEs that require calibration and testing services. Graduates work involves in the sequence of testing and calibration for instruments and equipment as per the blueprints, schematics, technical manuals and other specifications.
