Ayurveda is defined as a system of medicine from India that uses a constitutional model to help maintain health in a person by keeping the individual's body, mind and spirit in perfect equilibrium with nature and to provide guidance regarding food and lifestyle, So that healthy people can stay healthy and health challenges can improve their health. Ayurveda is a Sanskrit term, made up of the words "Ayus" and "Veda". Ayus means life and Veda means knowledge or science.

The aim of Ayurveda system is to prevent illness, heal the sick and preserve life. Basically in Ayurveda, diseases are understood as an imbalance between the body’s three humors, Vata (nerve energy), Pitta (catabolic fire energy) and Kapha (anabolic nutritive energy).Ayurveda is a combination of senses, mind, body and soul. Ayurveda is not only limited to body or physical symptoms, But also gives a comprehensive knowledge about spiritual, mental and social health. Everything in Ayurveda is validated by observation, inquiry, direct examination and knowledge derived from the ancient texts.

Ayurveda graduates are employed in government and private hospitals as a medical doctor or Medical officer and as a professor at Ayurveda colleges and also one can start their own career by putting up hospital. Ayurveda doctors can work for industries engaged in Ayurveda preparations. Graduates work as a junior doctor, junior surgeon in a hospital at starting stage after experience they are promoted. Ayurveda treatments are gaining much more importance and number of Pharmaceutical companies manufacturing Ayurveda medicines is increasing and the medicines are getting popular even in other countries. So there is lot of openings in this field.
