Application programming is a process of testing, debugging, designing, writing and maintaining the source code of computer programs and a protocol which is used as a software component to communicate each other. The designing and writing the source code includes the knowledge of application domain, specialized algorithms and formal logic. Source code is designed and written by Applications Programmer who works with different programming languages to create the source code, which is responsible for creating small or large parts of a piece of software in concert with others. Programming languages includes Java, C++, C#, Python, Php, .NET etc.

Application programmers, also known as software programmers who design, create and test software programs for business applications, desktop operating systems, learning applications, mobile operating systems, networking, websites and video games.

Skills of Application Programmer includes

Common programming language, including C, C++, Java and Python

Knowledge of servers, server operating systems and micro-computer based program solutions are also required.

Must know flow charts, programming logic and codes.


Some tasks of Application Programming include

1. Correcting errors by making appropriate changes and rechecking the program

2. Conducting trial runs of programs and software applications

3. Compiling and writing documentation of program development and subsequent revisions,    inserting comments in the coded instructions

4. Writing, updating, and maintaining computer programs

1. Student must pass higher secondary education or 10+2 with science subjects to get    admission into bachelor’s degree program

3. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Application

4. B.E in computer science or Information Science

5. B.Tech in Computer Applications

6. MCA in Computers

7. M.Tech in Computers



Application programmers are employed in all IT companies, Government and Private Organizations. Programmers job involves in Coding, Compilation, Debugging, Documentation, Integration, Maintenance, Requirements analysis, Software architecture, Software testing, Specification. They work as a System Programmer, Database Administrator, web Programmer, and as Software Engineer.
